Lys-Pro-Val

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Retains some of the anti-inflammatory activity of the parent hormone without melanocortin-receptor signalling. Marketed grey-market for IBD, oral / mucosal inflammation and skin claims.

Claims vs evidence

  • IBD / colitis — preclinical models only
  • Oral mucositis — small pilot studies
  • Topical anti-inflammatory — limited mechanistic backing

Why we grade it D

The mechanistic case is small and the human evidence is thin. No sponsor is progressing the molecule and no completed RCT supports any of the marketed indications. Sold through grey-market peptide vendors with claims that exceed the data.
