Peptide

Also known as · polypeptide

A short chain of amino acids linked by peptide bonds, typically containing between 2 and 50 residues.

Peptides occupy a middle ground between small-molecule drugs (typically <500 Da) and proteins (typically >5,000 Da). Their size enables high target selectivity and low off-target toxicity, but limits oral bioavailability and creates susceptibility to enzymatic degradation.
