Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro

Semax is a Russian-developed heptapeptide based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-7) extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro stabiliser. Authorised in Russia and Belarus for stroke recovery and ADHD-spectrum indications; not authorised anywhere in the EU, UK or US.

Claims vs evidence

  • Stroke recovery — Russian Phase III data, used clinically in origin country
  • Cognitive enhancement / ADHD — limited; small Russian trials
  • Anxiolytic — claimed; minimal independent support

Why we grade it C

The stroke-recovery indication has the clearest Phase III support, but the trials are single-country and have not been independently replicated in Western populations. Sold widely in grey-market peptide channels in the EU despite restricted-substance status in NL and DE. Promotion above C waits on independent replication.
