Placebo

Also known as · sham · vehicle

An inert intervention given to a control group to isolate the specific effect of the active intervention.

Placebo response is large in subjective outcomes (mood, libido, fatigue) and small in objective outcomes (HbA1c, blood pressure). Strong claims require effect sizes that meaningfully exceed placebo in well-blinded trials.
