Kisspeptin-10 is the C-terminal decapeptide of the KISS1 gene product, the key upstream regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. It has been used investigationally as a diagnostic tool for hypogonadism and a trigger for IVF ovulation, with promising but still pre-authorisation data.

Status

  • Investigational diagnostic use in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism
  • IVF ovulation-trigger research (Imperial College London programme)
  • No regulatory authorisation

Why we grade it C

Multiple Imperial College London Phase 1 / Phase 2 studies demonstrate clear HPG-axis activity and a defensible safety profile. The IVF-trigger application is the most advanced. Grade rises if and when an authorised formulation emerges; until then, supply is research-only.
