SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is een synthetisch achtaminozurig peptide, ontwikkeld door Lipotec / Lubrizol als topisch alternatief voor botulinetoxine bij behandeling van expressielijntjes. De actieve claim is dat het bij topische applicatie SNARE-complex assemblage remt bij de neuromusculaire junctie.

Waarom we het C geven
Het voorgestelde mechanisme — topische penetratie naar de neuromusculaire junctie in voldoende concentratie om SNARE-assemblage te remmen — is onaannemelijk bij typische cosmetische doseringen. Producent-gefinancierde studies tonen kleine, meetbare rimpelscore-verbeteringen, maar onafhankelijke replicatie is schaars en de effectgrootte ligt ver onder klinische botulinetoxine. Cosmetische-klasse autorisatie (CosIng) geldt voor het ingrediënt, niet voor de therapeutische claim.
