MOLECULAR INFORMATION

Molecular information

Type
Dual GLP-1 / glucagon receptor agonist · weekly subcutaneous · investigational

Survodutide is Boehringer Ingelheim / Zealand Pharma’s investigational dual agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Currently in Phase 3 for obesity and MASH (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis). The dual mechanism is positioned to improve liver outcomes alongside weight loss.

Status

  • Phase 3 obesity programme (SYNCHRONIZE) underway
  • Phase 3 MASH programme ongoing — orphan-style positioning
  • No regulatory authorisation

Why we grade it B

Phase 2 obesity data showed dose-dependent weight loss to −18% at 46 weeks. Plausible mechanism backed by glucagon-receptor pharmacology, but no independent replication and Phase 3 read-outs are pending.
